• Can the disinterestedneas presupposed as a requirement for aesthetic pleasure be seen as a more general distance from utility, correlating to the conditions of existence of an emerging mercantile class?
• Can investigation of the formal representation of theoretical categories serve to usefully interrogate these formulations and propositions?
This a stylishly bleak-looking blog. Very much looking forward to hearing more about your research. I did quite a bit on the poetry of Jorie Graham in mine, and the question of witness/writer/reader distance is a recurring obsession; it can suck you in!

Your positive response, on both form and content, are much appreciated. There will probably be a visual arts bias here- but the pointer towards poetry is noted, and much valued.
